Georgetown

Situated at the north end of the Tamar River is Australia’s third oldest European settlement and Australia’s oldest town. George Town is enriched with deep history while being a leisurely drive from Launceston. This historic hamlet is located past sweeping wineries and vineyards and perched on the western banks of the Tamar River. Georgetown has a variety of restaurants, chemists, and stores, and its own regional hospital. Just 5 kilometres north of George Town sits the popular beachside destination of Low Head. Low Head has many iconic landmarks, such as the Low Head Pilot Station, and Low Head Lighthouse, and you can’t forget about the penguin colony of Low Head Beach!
